BT — Rose of Jericho

Electronica, Trance, Techno, House and Dubstep are often under represented on catchy music blogs like this one; I think its because the majority of Americans feel like they need to be inebriated before they can enjoy such music. One thing that most of you may not know about me is that I became interesting in finding new music after discovering some drum and bass remixes of electropop and indie music. A striking example of such a remix is Temper Trap’s Science of Fear, Mistabishi remix [Mistabishi is on Hospital Records].

One of my favorite albums of last year that hasn’t gotten much representation on this blog is BT’s These Hopeful Machines. For those who don’t know of him, BT (Brian Transeau) is a trance DJ who has authored music for some ridiculously popular movies and is renowned in Europe for some of his collaborations with Tiestö (Break My Fall, anyone?). For example, he’s on the America Pie, Zoolander, Monster, Tomb Raider and Gone in 60 Seconds soundtracks. BT is one of the pioneers of modern trance and usually performs with an acoustic guitar, many laptops [he’s renowned for the amount of processing power that some of his self-authored programs require] and one of his crazy ass hair styles.

If I continue on my trance push, Juan might have to change the name of this blog. So without any more vagaries to the style of this blog, I’ll just implore you to do the following:

Go outside, get some noise-insulating or noise-canceling headphones and listen to this song with the volume at least set to 75% of the maximum. Maybe bring a book.

After doing this, you’ll hopefully find the same mysticism in this song that I see in it every time I indulge in a listen.

Ciao!
