Passion Pit + The Cranberries = Delicious and Nutritious?

After seeing this song performed live in Buffalo, I was a bit confused as to whether I really liked this song. Angelakos introduced the song with mild pomp and some celebration, while trying to sell the crowd on the deluxe version of Manners.  I kind of felt like it was a gimmick to squeeze as much out of Manners as possible. After all, if Phoenix can produce two-live EPs, a remix album and special pink vinyls from one album (albeit a great, great album), why can’t Passion Pit re-release an album as popular as Manners?  But then I heard the original Dreams and realized that Passion Pit really spent quite a bit of time mixing their electropop aura with what I consider run-of-the-mill ’90s alternative. It’s almost as if Yelle walked up to Alanis Morissette and said, “Hey, we’re going to cover You Oughta Know” and we’re going to not only make it bridge the ’90s-’00s generational gap, but we’re actually going to make it catchy.  Regardless of whether you like this song or not, you have to appreciate the effort that Passion Pit put in making this song a tasty rendition of the ’90s.

Plus, I won’t lie: the live rendition was indeed better than the studio version!

Have a damn good spring day,

PS: Yes, its another pic I took. If all these bands I get to see keep making catchy tunes, how could I not post up my own concert pictures? :)
