Freelance Whales - Hannah


Sounds Like: Siamese Twin procreated by Ra Ra Riot and The Ataris

    The mental image that I see when I hear the name “Freelance Whales” is of a whale with a face that looks like that of Kurt Vonnegut or Norman Mailer. While the name is not conducive to any romantic images, the hype around Freelance Whales reached a fever pitch this past week with their popular and well-recorded South-by-Southwest (SXSW) performance. As to be expected, media outlets ranging from NPR and Elle Magazine to Bitchfork have gone apeshit over the band’s new CD Weathervanes. There’s even been a Passion Pit sponsored remix of Generator ^ Second Floor.

    So why did I choose to post the song Hannah? Quite honestly, it’s because this song is perfect for a 72 degree, lazy spring day (like today!). Plus the closing verses of this song are great:
