The Teenagers - “Homecoming”

This is a song that needs no an introduction. This is gonna be one of those songs that I won’t even believe I ever listened to in five years. With some solid electro pop to provide a backing track, The Teenagers tell a clueless*-esque story of a boy who seduces his step cousin while on vacation. The plot is all too familiar; boy meets girl, boy feigns affection, boy burns the girl by having sex with her and never talking to her again. However, The Teenagers take it a step further and really drive home the this-guy-is-an-asshole theme with the chorus:

I fucked my american cunt/I loved my english romance/It was dirty a dream came true, just like I like it she had nice tits/It was perfect a dream came true, just like a song by Blink-182…

Did you just cringe when you read that first line? Yeah, so did I when I first heard it. You might be quick to think that this is a misogynistic song, but I think its just a tragic song with a misogynistic character. As weird as this song is - the spoken word verses, incessant chanting of the word “cunt”, I somehow still like it, and I figured you might too.
