Another band (or artist) who has a similar, contradictory style is Your Kid Sister. Also known as Maia Vidal, she plays Rancid covers with an accordion. Yes, as in mid-nineties punk band Rancid*. The songs are really well arranged and sound nothing like their original counterparts. She also makes all of her music videos herself, and they are pretty sweet, despite being totally lo-budge. Oh and don’t worry, I don’t have another 12-minute epic for you - since every 90s punk song is only 2 minutes long, so are her videos.
Your Kid Sister - “Poison”
Your Kid Sister - “Not to Regret”
- Juan
*Funny story. Ms. Vidal was also in a mid-2000s punk band that achieved moderate success, called Kiev. They even landed a Coca-Cola commercial, which is pretty cool for 3 girls still in high school. And for you Cornell people reading (though most likely also writing for) the blog, Maia and Kiev are from Ithaca, and yes that is the State St Diner.
I’d also like to thank Risa for recommending this.
